First published in 1945, this is the 1952 4th impression and like the first edition has illustrations by Leslie Stead – coloured wrapper illustration and coloured frontispiece plus 12 black and white illustrations.

The cover is chipped and worn with some small areas missing from the edges and is slightly grubby and the book itself has slight foxing to the endpapers and page edges. Despite all that this is an unusual Biggles title not often seen in a wrapper and at a very competitive price!
