8vo, blue boards with gold titling & image of a knitting machine to front board + gold titling to spine. Bevelled boards with very slight staining, especially to rear board. Tiny piece of front board gouged out almost removing 'p' of 'practical'. O/w a very clean, neat + tight copy VG++485 gms

"There is no kind of clothing which cannot be made on the Knitting Machine by an experienced Knitter, and very many articles for domestic use; such as antimacassars, window shades, fringes, mats, and shawls, all of which are easily produced" [p. 6]. Set-up directions, "How to Wind the Yarn", and specifics followed by 70 illustrated "Instructions" for a wide variety of vestments including football jersey and football pants, ladies' plain knit undervest, theatrical tights and stockings, child's princess costume, and of course various caps: tam o'shanter, sweep, and dunce, concluding with Gent's Fancy Ribbed Stockings.
